Are Planes Really the Safest Way to Travel?
A lot more people are getting a phobea of flying and I believe this is due down to the amount of air disasters that are occuring. Folk have always stated that air travel is the safest way to travel, but is that still the case.
The inflation in low costs airlines have seen a reduction in the amount of servicing an aeroplane actually receives. This has caused a huge amount of more delays. A personal story of mine was that I went to go on a relaxing holiday, and when leaving England the jet was initially delayed for two hours because they could not get the jet open to offload the passengers. Because they were running over two hours late, they literally offloaded the people on the aircraft, loaded us onto the jet quickly so that they could again get back and pick up more passengers.
But what actually happened was that whilst we were in the air we had to make an emergency landing because one of the engines had stopped working, it was a bad experience. So is air travel really as safe as driving new cars? In my opinion it is not, basically if you are involved in a car collision then you are less likely to die. But being involved in an air accident you are 99% likely not to survive.
As stated above I must say the main cause of this is because of economy travel, the flights are so affordable that the airlines just want to fly them as much as they can during the day so they can make more cash. So instead of giving the planes a rest they are using them non stop to earn more money.
